A. Decomposition of cast irons
B. Production of cast irons
C. Growth of cast irons
D. Prevention of growth of cast irons
The question was posed to me in my homework.
I’d like to ask this question from Cast Irons in chapter Non Ferrous Materials of Engineering Material & Metallurgy
The best I can explain: When cementite is heated at 700C it decomposes into ferrite and graphite. This causes it to occupy more space than the original structure. This phenomenon is known as the growth of cast irons.
